KARL HUBBUCH

Born 1891 in Karlsruhe – died 1979 in Karlsruhe.
Studied at the Academy, Karlsruhe. Participated at the "Neue Sachlichkeit" exhibition at Kunsthalle Mannheim, 1925. Representative of "New Objectivity" or "Magic Realisme". Winner of First Graphic Award of the Euphorion Verlag, 1928. Professor at the Landeskunstschule, Karlsruhe 1928-33. Suspended 1933, re-installed as Professor at the Academy, Karlsruhe 1948-57. Participated in "Tendenzen der 20er Jahre", Neue Nationalgalerie, Berlin 1977, "Neue Sachlichkeit and German Realism of the Twenties", Hayward Gallery, London 1979, "Le Réalisme 1919 – 1939 (Realism in Europe).
