Rudolf Schlichter
1890 Calw, Germany – 1955 Munich
Studied at the Kunstgewerbeschule, Stuttgart and the Academy of Art, Karlsruhe. Member of „Novembergruppe“, Berlin 1919-20; joined Communist Party, Berlin 1919. Participated at „1. Internationale Dada-Messe“, Berlin 1920, „Neue Sachlichkeit“ exhibition, Städtische Kunsthalle, Mannheim 1925. Representative of „New Objectivity“ and its veristic wing. His works were removed from public collections by the Nazis and proclaimed „Degenerate Art“, shown in the exhibition „Entartete Kunst“, Munich 1937.
