Carl Grossberg


1894 Elberfeld near Wuppertal – 1940 Laon, France
Studied at the Kunstakademie and the Bauhaus, Weimar. Participated at "Neue Sachlichkeit" exhibition, Städtische Kunsthalle, Mannheim 1925. Representative of "New Objectivity" or "Magic Realism". His work has been shown in many international exhibitions to name some: "Tendenzen der 20er Jahre", Neue Nationalgalerie, Berlin 1977, "Neue Sachlichkeit and German Realism of the Twenties", Hayward Gallery, London 1979, "Le Réalisme 1919 – 1939 (Realism in Europe).
